Since 2002, several small independent Malawian churches have made contact with the Wesleyans across the Zambian border about the possibility of affiliating with the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Zambia. The PWCZ has followed up with a number of these groups, most of whom did not continue to pursue the development of a relationship.  However, over a period of time a few congregations have come into being who have beenincorporated into the Zambian church.  The graduation of a Malawian student from the Pilgrim Wesleyan Bible College in 2011 raises hope that there will be a new surge of growth and church planting in the near future.
